A pair of a poem

Is a pair the same as two of ?

Does it have to be two of a kind ?

If you wear red sock on your left foot

And a blue one on your right

Are they still a pair?

An odd pair of socks, yes I think

I have never understood a pair of ladies tights

Or a pair of trousers

They are clearly one garment

Two legs, two legs

I hear you say

But a shirt has two sleeves

A bra has two cups

But neither is referred to as a pair
