Lock and Key
In this tangled nest of neurons,
the mental maze of messengers,
that makes you you and me me;
among the labyrinth of life and learning,
lightless corridors lead to a dark room,
kept under lock and key.
The hidden store of anxiety and fear,
guilt and despair kept wrapped
in the recesses of our minds;
The lock keeper invites you in to look,
then wryly smiling, he turns the key,
and shuts the door behind.

Boom! Love this, 'the mental maze of messengers, 'Labyrinth of life and learning, the whole piece conjours the cats cradle of ever fluctuating emotinal turmoil that many of us live with. thank you Jarlath
I really like this different slant on the theme. Plus some excellent alliteration always appeals
I think you have described the anarchic side of Parkinson’s very well. The feeling of despair comes through.
My usual comment... a few tweaks would make the syllables more rhythmic, but that may not be what you want! I like the 'lateral thinking' approach... and (unusually for me) the theme applied to PD...
got an ominous overtone maybe it's best not to think and analyse too much. our brains have enough going on that confuses. well worth a revisit ,maybe an extra verse or a tweek of it's rhythm. I like it
