Seven Years a Prisoner by Colven Gibson

Seven Years a Prisoner was written, like most of of my Poems, at 4am in the morning. Please don't confuse this as a ‘pity’ poem, as nothing could be further from the truth, it is a poem of defiance, despite the issues there still lies a hope of escape.

Seven Years a Prisoner

Muscles bound in chains

Seven Years a Prisoner

A body gone insane

Seven Years a Prisoner

I thought I knew my mind

Seven Years a Prisoner

Dark secrets I now find

Seven Years a Prisoner

A future out of control

Seven Years a Prisoner

With no hope of parole

Seven Years a Prisoner

It won't even let me smile

Straight faced, no emotions

Or putting on the style

Seven Years a Prisoner

Isolation is where I stay

Seven Years a Prisoner

With only, fluid, poetic thoughts

To help me break away

Seven Years a Prisoner

Please, please find a key

Seven Years a Prisoner

If only you could see

Seven Years a Prisoner

Research can set me free
