Inspiration: “…we’d forgotten about him having blood kin, but that’s who holds the cards in the end.” Demon Copperhead by B. Kingsolver, Pg 798 LP.
My McCousins, a hearty bunch.
Don’t keep up with them much.
Ever since Mom and Sis passed away,
I keep up with them in my own way.
Meet by Facetime every so often.
There were ten of us first cousins.
Favorite memory was Mamo’s Sunday feasts.
Enough food for twenty, at least.
With leftovers for the week.
All home-grown ingredients.
Topped off with several desserts,
We ate till our stomachs hurt.
Changed from our Sunday best to play clothes.
Lots of cousins rarin' to play outside games.
Especially Easter egg hunts, boys against girls.
Screaming loudly was allowed and preferred.
Enough about me.
I’m lucky to be a part of this family.
Do you have a favorite memory?

Evokes memories of my own childhood and family gatherings. Very enjoyable Alice. Thank you
A lovely read that strikes a chord within me, thank you Alice
Very nostalgic and poignant. Thanks for a good read.
A lovely family memory. Sometimes the past is all fog and remembered stories but on occasion long forgotten moments come flooding back in intricate detail
Memories, and family, are so important, especially as we are growing up. You sum it up, and then pose the crucial question. I like it!
