The bar was hid, guest bedroom, back,
its only access, through the loo,
without a lock and me in shock,
great aunt enthroned, in pink silk bloom.
Those journeys of discovery,
encounters of the preteen boy;
that first in sweetie shop of aunt,
then hospital, old workhouse ward.
There lay, where Grandma Ada’s bay,
debilitating stroke laid low;
me. unprepared, her speech defect,
I silent sat, gobbledegook.
Embarrassed, hearing, but nonplussed,
she handed me confection wrapped;
thus two shocks borne, that chocolate,
discoveries of Mars revealed.

"great aunt enthroned, in pink silk bloom." - traumatic!
Helps you work, rest and play (and write poetry always worth reading ).
What a bitter-sweet poem stephen, no pun intended.
