Walk, Don't Walk

Every night, as the sun sets low
They're all dressed up
With somewhere to go
Waiting for the signal
Their faces aglow
Off to the cafe
Ready Steady Go
Best foot forward, they seize the day
An army of green men
No time to delay.
Guided by the beep,
They know the way
Marching in time,
To the night café
But half way over, they fade to red
Their plans in tatters
It’s what they dread…
…their alter ego’s
Were marching ahead
Leaving the café
Time only for bread
Spare a thought then, for Greenman’s plight
And his trip to the café
This dark, dark night.
When you press that button
Glance at that Greenman light
Is he walking faster than usual
Is this his big night!

Clever idea—loved how you gave the Green Man a story of his own.
The first thing that popped in my head was the Boomtown Rats, I don't Like Mondays. I enjoyed this just as much.
