Snowflake

Updated: Nov 23, 2024

Why does everything have to change

One day you're laughing the next you're called strange

Take a simple snowflake, so pure and real

Now you say snowflake and it turns out to be a big deal.

You see, when over 50, words are words and they ring true

But the young they speak in riddles and words are there to offend you

A snowflake then is not a drop of iced rain

Now Its's an insult to someone who misunderstands that the rules include them

Who assumes life is there's alone, theirs alone to buy.

But sometimes its used to laugh at sensitive folk

If you can't handle modern life, a snowflake, you're called

So why take our language and use it for ill

Call a spade a spade don't steal

Just keep the meaning real

I for one embrace change

But just like a snowflake turning to rain

I'll flow with the changes

Learning to wax and wane.

Language - it’s ever evolving, I guess at least the meaning has been retained, in as far as snowflakes are delicate and easily broken but I agree with Martin, a little more tolerance and understanding wouldn’t go amiss just now.

Tolerance and understanding. That's what we all need more of. Nice poem
