A poetic partner for Keith Trayling's 'Let Yourself Go'
They said, “She’s really let herself go!”
When quite clearly instead, she had made a decision
despite their distain and caustic derision,
to abandon the heels, the make-up, the hair,
the over tight, clothes that she used to wear,
the expectation to always be thin
as if being skinny’s the ultimate win,
she was happy enough in her own skin.
She was glad she’d let herself go.
They said, “She’s really let herself go!”
When quite clearly, she’d made a choice,
She had finally found her voice.
She would no longer try to appease
but do what she wanted and say what she pleased.
Not worry about their opinion
no longer be a following minion.
She’d happily take their derision.
She was glad she’d let herself go.

Good for her!
Excellent Ali. A great twist that really works. Well done
