Can't sleep.
Won't sleep.
I have good reason why.
Last night I had this vivid dream
That made me wish to die...
My dream began quite
Pleasantly
With friends, among familiar places -
But morphed inexorably into film-noir,
Where beings wore masks
instead of faces.
Kafka meets 'Blade Runner'?
Dystopian mode, where nothing is quite what it seems.
I don't have insomnia -
Sleep comes quite easily.
But my REMs possess
Monotonous unpredictability.
In the beginning is the image
Then comes a tower of dazzle
Variations on vile themes -
One's mind starts to unravel.
Can't sleep.
Won't sleep.
I have good reason why.
Last night I had this vivid dream
That made me wish to die...
Oh those cursed dreams.
Oh how I sympathise John, experienced my first 'Zombie Apocalypse' dream last week!Great poem.
Interesting. I am working on a poem about PD dreams .We are having very different experiences It needs help. You are welcome to look at it in my drafts box under my name and make suggestions if you wish. I'm in a mindset to collaborate this month.
A topic I can relate to. I liked the way you concluded the poem by repeating the first line. It knitted the poem together nicely.
